How wide should curtains be?

We wrote a new blog called How to Measure Curtains that contains more information on this topic.

To ensure that curtain panels look ample when closed, they should have a combined width that is 1.5 to 2.5 times the width of the window. That means if you are ordering grommet style or rod pocket style, the total drapery width should be at least doubled window width.

French pleated style panels have fullness built in, so if you are ordering French pleated heading style, you should order the panels that are the same width with your window. They will cover your window with a nice fullness.

Exceptions: If you’re hanging curtains just to frame a window and don’t intend to shut them, you can round down to 1.2 times the width.

We finally moved in and got the curtains up... and windows cleaned, lol. We think they're great, and hope you agree. I can't thank you enough for your patience and support.

After visiting the photo gallery for inspiration, I ordered some curtains for my dining room. The curtains are beautiful! and arrived earlier than expected. I corresponded with the head of customer service many times throughout the process for help.. I would highly recommend Loft Curtains for high quality product, price, and customer service -- a rare find in today's world.

Wanted to say thankyou for your support in choosing the right curtains for our sliding doors. The free swatches sent were very helpful, as is your website and customer service. We are very happy with our curtains and the 90% block lining works great.
